A Social Affairs and Labor Ministry official views that the newly introduced e-government is set to face problems at its beginnings, but will lead afterwards to a huge leap forward in eliminating red-tape from various government procedures and paper work.

On the upcoming first day of operation for the electronically-run government system, ministry's Assistant Undersecretary for Labor Affairs Mansour Al-Mansour said that any given system would face a few problems at the beginning, but as time goes by, benefits will be reaped.

Kuwaiti Ministry of Education said that it is to organize the first electronic forum contest of the Gulf Cooperation Council states on April 17, 2010 and it will last for five days under the title of "My ambitions, a GCC innovation".

The ministry said in a press statement that the applicants should be from the citizens of the GCC states who have experience in the field of the subjectmatter, besides filling in a form containing the applicant's personal data along with the applicant's commitment to the contest's conditions and getting along with the liaison officer accredited from the cultural attache of every GCC state.

Kuwait is currently on the verge of completing phase two of the electronic gateway project that will combine governmental institutions electronically, noted an official on Sunday.

The announcement was made by Deputy Director-General of Kuwait's Central Agency for Information Technology (CAIT) Abdulatif Al-Sarea during a keynote speech held on the occasion of the Agency's special award for the promotion of informatics culture in the local community from the ICDL GCC Foundation, the regional arm of the European Computer Driving Licence in the Gulf.

Minister of Electricity and Water Dr. Bader Al-Shuraiaan has officially inaugurated his ministry's new online bill payment service. Speaking at a news conference held to mark the launch at the Ministry of Electricity and Water (MEW) headquarters, the minister said that the introduction of the online services, which the ministry began implementing five months ago, were designed to facilitate bill payment and preserve public funds.

The service is the first step in the ministry's implementation of the 'e-government' program initiated by His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammed Al-Sabah, the minister explained.

Secretary General of Kuwait Electronic Prize Manar Al-Hashash said on Sunday the Kuwaiti electronic projects vying for the The World Summit Award (WSA) for 2009 have impressed members of the arbitration panel. The ten-day WSA is being hosted by India, Al-Hashash said in statements to KUNA here. The eight Kuwaiti projects that ranked first in the eight categories of the recent Kuwaiti Electronic Award, are competing among the nominations of 157 countries in the current international contest, she pointed out.
