In a significant move towards digital transformation, the Ministry of Justice has launched a new service allowing citizens to pay civil fines through the “Sahel” application. The announcement was made by Dr. Muhammad Al-Wasmi, the Minister of Justice and Minister of Endowments and Islamic Affairs.

According to a statement on the Ministry’s official “X” account, this new service enables users to view their outstanding cases requiring payment of civil fines. Once the fines are paid in full, any transaction restrictions imposed due to these fines will be lifted.

In a recent announcement, Yousef Kazem, the official spokesman for the unified government application for electronic services (Sahel), revealed that the Ministry of Commerce and Industry has introduced a new electronic service for renewing ration cards through the Sahel application.

This initiative, according to Kazem, is a direct response to the directives issued by the Minister of Commerce and Industry, Abdullah Al-Joaan, emphasizing the need to streamline procedures and enhance accessibility to ministry services, especially those catering to citizens. The goal is to expedite transactions and simplify processes, making them more accessible via the Sahel application.

In a recent announcement, Yousef Kazem, the official spokesperson for the unified government application for electronic services, known as “Sahel,” revealed the app’s remarkable success. Since its launch on September 15, 2021, until the end of 2023, the application has efficiently processed over 30 million transactions and services.

Kazem shared key statistics highlighting the achievements of the “Sahel” application during this period. The app boasts a comprehensive array of (356) electronic services provided by (35) government agencies. These services cover a wide spectrum, contributing to the diversity of offerings to citizens.

Fitch Solutions, a credit ratings agency, stated that the technology company BMI recently determined the value of information and communication technology infrastructure projects in Kuwait at a value of USD 27.6 billion, as part of the bidding stages to implement the “New Kuwait 2035” vision, reports Al-Anba daily. It indicated that the long-term development plan for Kuwait aims at transforming the country into a digital society, and will lead to spending USD 17.6 billion on digital transformation between 2022 and 2027.

In its report, the agency highlighted the importance of integrating advanced information and communication technology, such as the Internet, automation, cloud services, and smart city solutions in infrastructure projects. It stressed the importance of pursuing partnership between the public and private sectors in these areas, indicating that Kuwait hosted major companies in the field of technology, such as Oracle, Microsoft and Google Cloud. The report explained that the “Oracle” project in Kuwait, worth USD 250 million, aims to integrate and maintain the medical information system for military health care in the country, and to enhance medical services in the country.
