Information technology (IT) practitioners were urged not to rest on their laurels as "development and growth needs to be at its peak in Brunei", said Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of BAG Networks Haslina Taib yesterday.

During a training session, she said that it is important to constantly upgrade skills and knowledge and learn best practices relevant in the technology field. "In BAG Networks, people development is an important part of our growth strategy. We will always be constantly seeking opportunities to learn and grow with our global partners like Accenture and Oracle," she said.

BAG Networks with Oracle Corporation are hosting a three-day training session under the "Nation Building through People Development" banner at the Ministry of Finance.

About 28 government personnel, nine BAG staff and seven local IT practitioners are attending the event, conducted by Oracle trainers with extensive global e-government experiences to share their knowledge on both technology and global best practices.

The training session was split into two sessions, executive and technical, for different audiences. The executive session yesterday was for senior management executives on strategies and approaches for e-government public service. Meanwhile, the technical session today is targeted at technical managers and team leaders, to take a more hands-on approach on Oracle solutions.

This is the second time BAG Networks is hosting a training session with an international ICT company under the "Nation Building through People Development" banner.
