His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa has affirmed that GCC countries have made major development and progress strides and ensured their citizens' welfare and rights.

This fact, he said, confirms to the world that GCC leaders, particularly in Saudi Arabia, have achieved a lot for their peoples, guaranteed their rights and provided them with huge potentials and capabilities, which have made peoples from all the world look forward to living in GCC countries, given the security and stability they enjoy despite their troubled regional neighbourhood.

He made the statements as he received at the Gudaibiya Palace today senior participants in the Bahrain International e-Government Forum 2015, led by former Swedish Premier John Fredrik Reinfeld, and Kuwaiti Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Shaikh Mohammed Abdulla Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah.

HRH Premier asserted that the Kingdom had managed to lay the basis for a strong economy with all necessary requirements and elements that attract investments in all fields, particularly in the information and communication one, which is witnessing rapid developments and has become a distinctive feature of modern life.

He described investment in promising sectors, such as information and communication, as an investment in both the present and the future, noting that Bahrain had recongnised that fact earlier, and launched an ambitious vision to consolidate electronic applications and ensured easy access to them for all.

HRH Premier underlined the importance of events, such as the Bahrain International e-Government Forum, in developing the information and communication industry at the world level, highlighting the government's keenness to cope with the latest developments, and support all efforts aiming to serve sustainable development.

HRH the Prime Minister underscored the importance of modern technology as a promising investment field, adding that Bahrain is interested in the knowledge-based economy, encourages innovation and welcomes all international investments in infrastructure related to the information and communication technology (ICT) thanks to the facilities it offers in this regard.

He affirmed Bahrain's efforts to consolidate its leading and competitive status in ICT through its modern and advanced infrastructure.

"There are no limits to our knowledge ambitions, especially regarding the consolidation of electronic transactions in government services, and we will never hesitate to adopt any initiatives aiming to use technology to make our life easier, and facilitate transactions and procedures for the Bahraini citizens," he said.

He wished the participants every success in coming up with positive results and recommendations that promote ICT and knowledge-based practices.

The participants in the Bahrain International e-Government Forum expressed sincere thanks and appreciation to HRH Premier for unwavering support to activities and events aiming to consolidate sustainable development efforts in the kingdom.

They also lauded the interest of the government, led by HRH Premier, in providing suitable conditions and infrastructure to ensure that information and communication technologies are provided according to the latest modern systems and make sure everyone has access to them easily.
