The first site of reference on e-government, ‘eGovWorld’ will be launched within a month.
The Department of Information Technology (DIT) initiated project, ‘e-GovWorld’ is the first knowledge portal, which will act both as learning and business space. eGovWorld will improve communication between citizens and businesses on one hand, and e-government institutions on the other.
National Institute for Smart Government (NISG) is the implementing agency of the project and is responsible for the conceptualisation, administration and management of the eGovWorld portal. It has been around six months time since the project had started.
The eGovWorld advisory committee meeting was held on Wednesday evening to discuss about the content management on the portal and its formal launch. DIT acts as an advisory body for the eGovWorld.
J Satyanarayana, chief executive officer of NISG said that it would be the first knowledge portal providing a single window interface for sharing ideas, resources and opportunities. “The portal is currently available on the Internet but will be formally launched in a short period. It will focus on three different space,” Satyanarayana said.
He said that the portal would include all the best practices, white papers and e-governance conferences or events held across the country. Acting as a learning space it will offer courses on e-governance, different models of e-governance, topics relating to e-governance, video clippings and presentations.
“The portal would also offer basic and high-level courses on e-governance. The basic level course will be offered free of cost, however, there will be a nominal fee for the high level course,” Satyanarayana added.
