Having rolled out e-filing programme at all registrars of companies, the Ministry of Company Affairs today said corporates will have to mandatorily file annual returns and and balance sheets electronically from September 16.
The filing in electronic mode is part of e-governance project -- MCA21 -- initiated by the Ministry.
The project includes introduction of anywhere, anytime secure electronic filing for MCA transactions, adaptation of all statutory forms to e-forms for electronic filing, use of digital signatures to ensure the security of electronic forms and documents.
Multi-modal methods of payment encompassing existing payment mechanism and electronic payment options using credit cards and internet banking are also part of the project.
Gupta said 53 physical front offices are located across the nation to provide facilitation services for electronic filing.
To roll out the project, nearly 5 crore pages of legacy corporate documents have been digitalised, he said.
The project, started with the signing of agreement with TCS on March 1 last year, has been rolled-out at all registrar of companies locations as on August 10 this year, Gupta said.
