USA: FedTeds to become mandatory for sensitive procurement data
The Federal Acquisition Regulation Council “very soon” will issue a final rule making FedTeds mandatory, said Richard Clark, FedTeds program manager, yesterday at the FOSE 2006 trade show in Washington sponsored by PostNewsweek Tech Media, the parent company of Government Computer News.
EU consults on revising systems for public sector procurement: get involved!
The CPV helps all EU businesses and SMEs to easily identify public procurement contracts offered by any EU public authority, irrespective of the original language of the tender notice, thereby increasing competition, efficiency and transparency. The updated version of the CPV takes account of recent market developments and new possibilities offered by electronic procurement, such as structuring and analysis of expenditure and compilation of statistics. The results of the consultation, which is in the form of an online questionnaire, will contribute to the final version of the updated CPV.

UK: Local authority IT managers launch the Active Windows Integrator User Group
February saw the inaugural meeting of the Active Windows Integrator (AWI) User Group, where a number of Local Authorities met to discuss the possibility of sharing scripts and to create an environment where knowledge and codes of best practice could be shared among members. The aim of the user group is to closely examine the need for IT managers to rely heavily on vendor API’s and to share source code through the creation of a common library.
