  • Israel among world leaders in e-Government

    UN awards Israel prestigious prize for improved online services; ranks it 16 among international community's most advanced nations in field

    Israel is one of the world's leading nations in the field of online government services, a UN report said. Israel ranked 16 in a recent United Nations survey of e-Government services and "available government" features.

  • 2013 Bahrain e-Content Award results finalized

    The organizing committee of the Award of Bahrain e-Content 2013 organized by the Bahrain Internet Society (BIS), in collaboration with the e-Government Authority and held under the patronage of Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Supreme Committee for Information and Communication Technology (SCICT), has announced the finalization of the evaluation of e-content projects submitted to the Bahrain e-Content Award 2013 by public and private sectors and individuals.

    BIS President and Chairman of the organizing committee of the Award of Bahrain e-Content 2013, Nawaf Abdul-Rahman said the jury committee has met for five consecutive days to examine, evaluate all e-content projects submitted by government and private sectors institutions and private individuals.

Der Red Arrow Award für die "Plattform Digitales Österreich" ist eine Auszeichnung und Bestätigung dafür, dass der österreichische Weg einer klaren und koordinierten Strategie richtig und Erfolg versprechend ist", so Staatssekretär Franz Morak anlässlich der Verleihung des Preises an die Digitale Plattform Österreich.

  • Kuwait University wins Arab E-government Excellence Award

    Kuwait University (KU) won the E-Government Excellence Awards, member of Pan Arab Excellence Awards Academy, the university has unveiled.

    In a press statement, the KU Spokesperson Faisal Maqseed said the KU official Twitter account, is run Electronic Publishing Section, won the best interactive platform of the category of official institutions and agencies' websites in Kuwait.

  • Makati is PH's sole finalist at World Smart Cities Awards

    Makati City is the lone finalist from the Philippines and the Asia Pacific at this year's World Smart City Awards, its local government said Saturday.

    Six cities from six countries are vying for the City Award category, which recognizes a city with "developed global strategies combining projects, initiatives and policy implementations for their citizens."

    Competing for the award are Sunderland in the United Kingdom, Cascais in Portugal, İzmir in Turkey, Curitiba in Brazil, and Barranquilla in Colombia. This year, the 2023 Call for Awards received 411 top-level proposals under different categories from 63 countries.

    The official website of the UAE Cabinet (www.uaecabinet.ae) was declared as the winner of the ‘Technical Creativity Award’ at the recently held Arab e-Government Web Awards, prevailing over other Ministries. The award recognizes the tremendous efforts that have been made by Governments in the Arab world to develop and maintain up-to-date and advanced web portals to better serve their citizens and residents, and enhance transparency through the provision of data and information that meets the best international standards and practices.

    The website of the UAE Cabinet was developed in accordance with the directions of the UAE’s leadership, to promote greater transparency within the public sector by offering an accurate and updated database that is accessible to both citizens and residents. The website acts as a reliable reference for all information related to the UAE Cabinet and promotes better understanding of the nature of the UAE’s government system and the mechanisms of decision-making.

  • Oman’s eGovernment awards to have 12 categories this year

    The Information Technology Authority (ITA) on Wednesday announced the fourth edition of the Sultan Qaboos Award for Excellence in eGovernment at Crowne Plaza Muscat.

    Dr Salim Sultan al Ruzaiqi, chief executive officer of ITA, Omar bin Salim al Shanfari, deputy CEO for operations at ITA and Fatma bint Salim al Riyami, project director of the Award presided over the press conference.

  • Qatar Airways wins ‘smart tourism e-services’ award

    Qatar Airways has won the ‘Middle East Smart Government & Smart Services Excellence Award’ for its ‘Smart Tourism E-Services’, at a ceremony held by the Middle East Excellence Awards Institute at the Ritz-Carlton, Dubai International Financial Centre yesterday.

    The institute of Middle East Excellence Awards recognises the significance of honouring excellent organisations and companies for their achievements in streamlining their online services that contribute to the competitiveness of the variety of e-services found in the Middle East.

  • Smart Chinese cities with Huawei tech win awards

    Huawei’s customers have recently won two World Smart City Awards at 10th Smart City Expo World for their innovative ideas and outstanding achievements in driving smart city initiatives, says a press release.

  • "Saudi" portal reaps the World Summit Award 2013

    The national e-Government portal "Saudi", garnered the World Summit Award 2013 for e-Government and open data. The award was given in a ceremony arranged in Colombo, the Sri Lankan capital. The award was received by Eng. Ali bin Saleh Al-Soma, Director General of the e-Government Program (YESSER) and Eng. Mitrif bin Abdullah Al-Sahli, Director - Software Engineering.

    The World Summit Award (WSA) is a global follow-up initiative of the United Nations Summit on Information Society. It partners with the key UN organizations and agencies in the framework of the UN Geneva Agenda and the Tunis Action Plan and selects and promotes the world's best e-Content and innovative ICT applications.

  • 100 projects vie for Bahrain eGovt awards

    More than 100 projects have been evaluated for Bahrain’s eGovernment Excellence Awards 2013, said a top official, adding that the development of governmental entities’ electronic projects have significantly improved compared to last year.

    Announcement of the Excellence Award winners will take place during the official opening of Bahrain International eGovernment Forum 2013 on April 8.

    Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Supreme Committee for ICT, will honour the winning entities and projects.

  • 5. eGovernment-Wettbewerb: Preisverleihung erstmals in acht Politikfeldern

    Dr. Göttrik Wewer, Staatssekretär im Bundesministerium des Innern, sowie Vertreter der internationalen Beratungsgesellschaft BearingPoint und von Cisco Systems, weltweit führender Anbieter von Networking-Lösungen für das Internet, zeichnen heute auf der CeBIT die acht Gewinner des 5. eGovernment-Wettbewerbs aus.

    Der Wettbewerb steht wie in den vergangenen Jahren unter der Schirmherrschaft von Bundesinnenminister Otto Schily. Der eGovernment-Wettbewerb verfolgt das Ziel, den Einsatz von Internet-Technologien für die Modernisierung der öffentlichen Verwaltung in Deutschland zu stärken. Cisco Systems und BearingPoint engagieren sich mit dem Wettbewerb seit dem Jahr 2000 für die Förderung von eGovernment-Projekten in Deutschland.

    Award aims to promote sustainable development by bringing global cities closer

    Congratulatory messages have been pouring in for General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, after a UAE initiative won a prestigious e-Government award.

    Shaikh Mohammad most recently received a congratulatory message from Won Soon Park, the mayor of Seoul, who lauded the initiative during the recently concluded first World e-Governments Organisation of Cities and Local Governments (WeGO) Awards 2012 in Barcelona.

    In recognition of its efforts in implementing Spatial Data Infrastructure (SDI) and driving the cooperative use of geospatial information across a wide range of Government entities in Abu Dhabi, Abu Dhabi e-Government has received the inaugural “2015 Smart Government Award” launched by the Environmental Systems Research Institute (Esri) User Conference, held in San Diego, California in the United States from 20 - 21 July.

    The two-day knowledge sharing event set the stage for representatives from different government bodies to attend workshops, exchange insights and leverage experiences with GIS organisations and professionals.

    Authority recognised for efforts to switch to m-government

    The Emirates Identity Authority has won the Arab Excellence Awards Academy’s “Excellence Shield” in the e-transactions category as part of the Arab e-Government Excellence Award.

    The laurel comes in recognition of Emirates ID’s efforts to facilitate the switch to m-government in the UAE.

  • AE: Mohammed launches Best m-Government Service Award

    His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice -President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has launched the “Best m-Government Service Award”, an initiative to motivate government agencies to provide innovative solutions in the field of smart phone applications, mobile websites and SMS.

    His Highness Shaikh Mohammed emphasised that “the launch of the new award was in line with the m-Government initiative which was launched last week to define the future e-government that will be racing against time to identify and fulfill the public needs around the clock in an innovative manner that will exceed their expectations.”

  • AE: MoL launches E-services award

    As part of the mGovernment initiatives, the Ministry of Labour (MoL) launched the E-services and smartphones applications award.

    The award has four main categories and applications will be accepted from July 15 to September 15. Winners will be announced in a special ceremony to be held during the 35th edition of Gitex Technology Week 2015, in Dubai.

  • AE: Abu Dhabi Police GHQ website wins two e-government shield awards

    The Abu Dhabi Police GHQ website (www.adpolice.gov.ae) won two awards as part of the e-government shield award competition, for the best websites, namely; the 'Technical Innovation Award' and the 'Best Strategic Website' in the Security and Military Institutions Category.

    The award is granted by the Arab Organization for Social Responsibility, in partnership with the Arab Web Awards Academy in the Arab Region and Tatweej Academy for quality and excellence.
