The federal government has shut down its Performance Dashboard, used to improve digital services and provide transparency to the public, as part of a significant restructuring of its digital agency.
The Performance Dashboard was launched in late 2016 as a way to promote “government transparency and help drive the ongoing improvement of government services”, with departments and agencies voluntarily uploading data on how their digital initiatives rank in terms of the Digital Delivery Standard.

OCR Labs has been named as one of Australia’s first ‘entirely private’ accredited digital identity service providers.
Stuart Robert, minister for employment, workforce, skills, small and family business, announced that the Australian-based business was the first to be accredited through the government’s Trusted Digital Identity Framework (TDIF).

The City of Melbourne and Finland-based multinational telecommunications, information technology, and consumer electronics company have conducted a trial using the tech company’s Scene Analytics artificial intelligence (AI) technology to develop a deeper understanding of waste disposal behaviour.
This will help the city tackle the issue of waste dumping more efficiently and keep laneways even cleaner, safer and free of garbage. To reduce the frequency of waste contractor visits to busy areas, the City of Melbourne has offered residents and businesses subscription-based access to the large-capacity compactor facilities. With the compactor in place, Council wanted to understand how the service was being utilised and how to mitigate illegal waste dumping, which can create safety and hygiene issues in the area.
