Addressing different public officials here on Friday, the Minister for Communication, Science and Technology, Prof Makame Mbarawa, said after being connected with the network, the central government would be able to communicate with the regional authorities via the new technology.
Currently the country continues to address the enabling factors which include expansion of the national ICT backbone infrastructure, more landing points for the submarine fibre-optic cables, human resource development and pro-ICT policies.
The project is a bold step taken by the government to connect all regions and districts so that they have access to the 10,000 kilometre national and regional broadband infrastructure as well as sea cables.

“Through the use of computer and internet services, users can nowadays communicate faster, while in the past they relied on letter writing only, which was time consuming. So, letter writing has dropped considerably thanks to ICT advancement,” says an ICT expert Alexander Mugaya, who runs his own business in Dar es Salaam.
According to Mugaya, Tanzania is rapidly changing because of ICT advancement and people can now communicate and get things done faster.

This was said on Saturday by the Minister for Communication, Science and Technology, Prof. Makame Mbarawa, at a meeting in Dar es Salaam on the International Broadband Fibre connectivity between Tanzania and Malawi.
The minister said that the communication improvement was prompted by the fast changing technology in the global ICT industry.

Today, a lot of government information is accessible online more than it was in the past. E-government increases efficiency, improved services, better accessibility of public services and more transparency and accountability. E-government service managers need to be equipped with adequate skills and knowledge on how to develop services that will meet expectations of citizens.
