Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo engaged with representatives from the European Union (EU) to share initiatives concerning Malaysia’s journey to develop digital and smart cities that enhance people’s lives.
During the C-level Roundtable Breakfast at the Smart City World Expo Congress here today, the minister highlighted that the gathering strengthened the partnership between Malaysia and the EU on smart city development.

Strategic twin cities cooperation between the Federal Territories, particularly Putrajaya and Shanghai, China, will allow Malaysia to learn more about smart city management, said Dr Zaliha Mustafa.
The Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) said the initiative would also help the country adopt innovation-based technological solutions and remain at the forefront of adopting modern approaches.

The autonomous bus initiative is one of the 40 use cases for 5G technology that Malaysia will showcase as it prepares to assume the role of Asean chair next year, says Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo.
He said the initiative is a collaboration between Digital Nasional Bhd (DNB), the nation's 5G network provider, technology giant Ericsson, and local autonomous vehicle solutions developer eMooVit Technology Sdn Bhd.

A Smart City Committee has been established to coordinate efforts of various agencies in the development of smart cities across Sarawak, said Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian.

Ericsson and Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation Sdn Bhd (MDEC) have renewed their collaboration to prepare Malaysian students and the workforce for a digital economy.
Ericsson will provide access to its global Ericsson Educate 21st Century Technologies course – a free, self-paced online learning programme – that is designed to enhance the skills of the Malaysian workforce as well as interested tertiary-level students across all disciplines in information and communication technology.
