Citizens could take out licenses and order birth certificates. E-government in the late '90s emerged with great expectations.
This week, Montana Secretary of State Bob Brown announced that certified copies of key business documents can now be ordered over the Internet. The new service allows businesses to electronically order and pay for certified copies of specific corporation documents, including annual reports, amendments, and certificates of fact and existence. These documents are required to prove the existence and status of a business for legal and financial purposes such as when a business seeks a loan, reorganizes, or is involved in a merger.
