Kansas technical professionals can now renew their licenses and update their information online through www.accessKansas.org, the state's official Web site. The Kansas Board of Technical Professions and accessKansas created this online service to increase the speed and ease of renewals and updates for licensees and agency staff.

Requesting a copy of your driving record is now a simple process, thanks to a new online service available through Maine's official Web site at www.Maine.gov. Public motor vehicle driving records for licensed drivers in Maine can now be viewed electronically through a cooperative service offered by the Bureau of Motor Vehicles and the Information Resource of Maine (InforME).

Federal information technology officials' confidence that the 24 e-government initiatives will be successful has more than doubled since 2003, according to an annual survey conducted by analysts at the Association for Federal Information Resources Management.

The Office of Management and Budget plans to evaluate federal electronic government efforts on whether people actually are using them, according to a new status report on the 24 main e-government initiatives.

The report from OMB's e-government administrator, Karen Evans, marks the second anniversary of the E-Government Act of 2002 and identifies agency goals for 2005.

The Office of Management and Budget late last week issued 10 online marching orders that agencies must meet by the end of next year.

But of the 10, only one—the requirement for a search function on every public Web site or main entry point—is truly new to agencies. The rest are mandates drawn from existing laws and regulations such as the E-Government Act, the Paperwork Reduction Act and OMB Circular A-130.
