  • E-health to be focus at ITU Telecom World, Dubai

    UN telco co-ordinator enlists WHO to urge healthcare revolution

    Emerging e-Health technologies and their applications for revamping healthcare delivery will be a focal point at the International Telecommunication Union's (ITU) annual forum ITU Telecom World 2012, taking place in Dubai 14-18 October.

    In concert with fellow UN agency the World Health Organisation (WHO), US telco Verizon, global management consultancy McKinsey, and the government of Uganda, ITU will hold a series of sessions focused on the ambitious goal of global delivery of e-Health solutions.

  • The Global e-Government Forum 2013 Kicks off in South Korea

    The so-called “administrative Hallyu” will sweep through the world, sending S. Korea’s e-government exports to USD 400 million.

    The Global e-Government Forum (GeGF) 2013, a conference for global e-government leaders and a global event designed to spread the so-called “administrative Hallyu (or the Korean wave)” to the rest of the world, has kicked off with a fanfare at KINTEX, Ilsan, with 300 guests from abroad (including 25 high-ranking, ministerial-level government officials from 50 nations) and approximately 700 domestic participants in attendance.

  • 2013 UN Public Service Forum will kick off in Bahrain

    In a press conference held yesterday, Mr. Mohammed Ali Al Qaed, eGovernment Authority CEO, Chairman of the 2013 United Nations Public Services Forum's Organizing Committee, announced latest details of the forum held under the patronage of His Majesty the King Hamad Bin Isa Al-Khalifa, the King of Bahrain, in coordination with Bahrain's eGovernment Authority and the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA) will kick off on the 24th of June and will continue for 4 days.

    Al Qaed stated that they've already succeeded in exceeding the set objectives and the number of registered delegates has so far reached 700 people, 550 of them are from outside the Kingdom of Bahrain, representing 97 countries.

  • ADUKG launches GCC e-Participation and e-Governance Forum on 10th of September

    Decision makers and e-government experts meeting at the 'GCC e-Participation and e-Governance Forum' are set to examine the global and regional developments on how governments are transforming key services they provide to the public through online digital platforms.

    Entitled 'Meeting Citizen Demands and Transforming Public Sector Service', the two-day forum set to launch on the 10th of September in the Westin Abu Dhabi Golf Resort and Spa, is organized by Abu Dhabi University's Knowledge Group (ADUKG); and aims to tackle the challenges that face governments in delivering the latest trends in e-services to a technology savvy and demanding public.

  • AE: Dubai Govt's ISC concludes First Information Security Forum in collaboration with Dubai eGov't

    The Dubai Government First Information Security Forum successfully concluded at Inter-continental Hotel with attendance from around 80 Dubai government entities. The Forum was organized by the Information Security Committee (ISC), which is tasked with managing information security at Dubai Government, in collaboration with Dubai eGovernment.

    The Forum focused on reviewing Dubai Government's Information Security Regulation (ISR), which was recently approved by the ISC in Arabic and English.

    ICT Fund offers AED 200m in support of the initiative

    Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum today unveiled an initiative whereby government services will be delivered via mobile phones and other advanced technology tools as part of his vision to provide services to clients where ever they are and at any time.

    Sheikh Mohammed made his remarks as he launched the ''Smart Government'' initiative, an advanced step of e-government, during a meeting organised for more than 1000 officials. The meeting followed Sheikh Mohammed's instructions given during a recent Government Summit to improve public services.

  • AE: Tech trends key for better eGovt

    The adoption and implementation of effective technology trends are essential for the government to enhance its services to its customers, it was discussed at a workshop organised by the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, or TRA.

    The event - under the theme Technology Trends and Government Competitiveness, and done in association with IT research and advisory firm Gartner - was held to educate government units on present and upcoming trends in the fields of location-based technology and social media, their relevance to electronic government and how to deal with challenges that may arise with these.

  • AZ: Baku opens Int’l ICT Conference

    The 7th International Conference on Application of Information and Communication Technologies kicked off in Azerbaijan`s capital on October 24.

    AICT2013 is co-organized by Azerbaijan`s Ministry of Communication and Information Technologies, Education Ministry , Qafqaz University, Baku State University, Lomonosov Moscow State University Baku branch, Institute of Information Technology, and Azerbaijan Technical University.

    Speaking at the event, rector of the Baku State University, Academician Abel Maharramov said 2013 was declared the Year of Information Communication Technologies in Azerbaijan.

  • Azerbaijan hosts int'l conference on e-government in customs sector

    Gabala hosted the fifth anniversary International Scientific Conference on "E-government: innovations in customs" on Monday. Some 102 representatives from 55 countries attended it.

    The conference was held to discuss the global practice in developing and using the e-government, modern forms of cooperation between public organizations in the field of e-governance, using the information and communication technologies in the field of customs and other areas of the economy, as well as examining the current situation on innovative methods of governance and exchanging the experience in this area.

  • Bahrain International eGovernment Forum 2013 opens

    His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Supreme Committee for Information and Communication Technology, will inaugurate this morning the Bahrain International eGovernment Forum 2013 in its sixth edition; at the Ritz-Carlton Bahrain Hotel and Spa.

    The event will also comprise His Highness's inauguration of Bahrain IT Expo 2013 along with the honoring of eGovernment Excellence Award 2013 winners.

  • Bahrain: ICT experts to study development strategy

    Bahrain will host the biggest regional information technology conference of its kind later this year.

    The eGovernment Authority (eGA) signed a strategic partnership agreement with the Information and Communication Technology Conference for the Middle East and North Africa 2009 (MENA ICT 09).

    The conference, from November 17 to 19, will be held for the second time after the success of the first conference in Beirut last year.

  • Bahrain’s eGovt backs major ICT summit

    Bahrain’s eGovernment Authority (eGA) has announced its strategic partnership for a major conference that will highlight the kingdom’s regional role as a key player in building ICT capabilities.

    MEET ICT 2013 will run from December 10 to 12 at the Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre under the patronage of Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed, Minister of Transportation.

  • BH: Arab e-Content Forum kick-starts

    The e-Government Authority's Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mohammed Ali Al Qaed has affirmed that the Arab content on the Internet is below the expected because of the limited interest of individuals, organisations and governments in it, stressing the importance of developing it through the establishment of research centers specialised in the advancement of Arab content on the Internet.

    Al Qaed was speaking as he patronised here today the opening of the Arab e-Content Forum entitled "Prospects and creating new opportunity for development and investment".

  • BH: EGA announces its partnership with MEET ICT2013

    The Electronic Government Authority (EGA) announced its strategic partnership with the Information and Telecommunication Conference (MEET ICT2013) organized under the auspices of Transportation Minister Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed in the period 10-12 December organized at the Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre (BIEC). The conference sheds light on the Kingdom of Bahrain as a key player in the region in building IT and telecommunications capabilities, through hosting several international experts in the field who enrich with their expertise and skills the conference audience.

    E-Government CEO, Mohammed Ali Al-Qaed said: We in the Authority believe in the significance of leadership role played by IT and telecommunications technologies in the current knowledge-based economic transformation in the Kingdom.   • BH: Seventh international eGovernment forum opens today

    The seventh edition of Bahrain International eGovernment Forum will be inaugurated at Ritz-Carlton Bahrain, Hotel and Spa today.

    Deputy Premier and Supreme Committee for Information and Communication Technology chairman Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa will open the event.

    He will also honour winners of the eGovernment Excellence Award.
