  • Ukraine Partners with Bitfury to Put All Governmental Data on Blockchain

    Ukraine aims to create an entirely new ecosystem for state projects based on the blockchain technology.

    Ukraine has decided to put a wide range of government data on a blockchain platform. Together with the Bitfury Group, a blockchain company with offices in the United States and overseas, Ukraine will start probably the largest project of such kind.

  • Ukraine plans to introduce 'electronic government'

    Head of the State Committee on Science, Innovation and Information Technology Volodymyr Semynozhenko has said that the Cabinet of Ministers at a meeting on November 17 could approve a plan for "electronic government" in Ukraine.

    "We expect that in a week at a government meeting a plan for electronic government will be approved," he told reporters in Kyiv on Monday.

  • Ukraine to Introduce European Standard of Biometric ID

    A bill concerning the introduction of biometric IDs in Ukraine passed the first reading in the country's parliament. Biometric documents will contribute to border security between Ukraine and the EU. The draft law provides for the creation of a unified state demographic register, which will contain basic personal information on each citizen. Additionally, the draft stipulates issuing the documents for traveling abroad that have a built-in proximity chip with registry information on the holder.

    The new document standard will help eliminate ID fraud and thus increase border security. The registry may become accessible to all the relevant European services and institutions, improving the time and cost efficiency of their work, including the shortened border control procedure.

  • Ukraine to study Estonian experience of introducing e-government

    Ukraine is interested in studying the international experience of building the "electronic government". This announcement was made by Natalia Korolevskaya, Minister of Social Policy of Ukraine, after presentation of "Electronic Government of Estonia" at Demonstration Center of IT Technology of Estonia, the Information-Analytical Bulletin of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine informs.

    Korolevskaya said she familiarized herself with the operation of "electronic government" used in Estonia. Scale of our countries is different, but many things can be adapted. We agreed on cooperation with Estonian partners, in order to study their experience of launching the "electronic government."

  • Ukraine, EU sign new EUR 25 mln program to support digital economy

    The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the European Union signed a new program for supporting e-governance and digital economy in Ukraine in the amount of EUR 25 million, Prime Minister Oleksiy Honcharuk has stated.

    “The Government and the EU have just signed a new program for supporting e-governance and digital economy in Ukraine worth EUR 25 million. Digitalization is, first of all, a victory over corruption,” the prime minister said at a press briefing on February 11.

    Die Verwaltung der ukrainischen Top Level Domain (TLD) .ua oblag bisher der Firma Hostmaster. Doch bereits im Juli dieses Jahres ging die ukrainische Regierung vor Gericht, um ihrerseits die TLD-Verwaltung zu übernehmen. Gleichzeitig wandte sie sich an die Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) damit diese die Übertragung der Verantwortlichkeit billigte. Anfang November stand die Entscheidung darüber noch aus und Robert Ménard von den Reportern ohne Grenzen zeigte sich bereits zu diesem Zeitpunkt höchst besorgt über die Situation in der Ukraine.

  • Ukraine: WEB-basiertes MIS für die Berufsausbildung geht ab August 2009 in den Echtbetrieb

    Das seit vier Jahren in der Ukraine tätige EU finanzierte Projekt zur Unterstützung des Managements der Berufsausbildung in den Regionen der Ukraine geht im August 2009 zu Ende. Das dabei im Laufe einer zweijährigen Projektphase geschaffene WEB basierte Management Information System “PROFTECHINFO” zur beruflichen Bildung ist fertig und geht im August 2009 in den Echtbetrieb. Hauptaufgabe des Systems ist die Erfassung, Verarbeitung und Analyse von Daten zur beruflichen Bildung in der Ukraine zwecks Vorbereitung politischer und administrativer Entscheidungen in diesem Bereich.

  • Ukrainian govt works with Microsoft on digital transformation

    The Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine and Microsoft Ukraine have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to develop a partnership in digital modernisation using Microsoft Azure as a vehicle, as well using modern workplace automation products for government-owned companies to enable seamless collaboration across Ukraine and within the government.

    Microsoft and the ministry intend to cooperate on a range of initiatives with a highly secured cloud platform ecosystem as a foundation, allowing innovations, advantageous cost of services, implementation of a data security strategy, and creation of new workplaces. Digital transformation programmes could have an impact on different industries and influence energy transition, digital agriculture transformation, and sustainability.

  • UNDP to work on strengthening of E-Governance in Uzbekistan

    Minfinkom and UNDP have launched a joint project “Public Administration Reforms and Digital Transformation”. This new initiative is aimed at assisting the government in carrying out reforms in the field of public administration and providing quality public services, the UNDP said in press release.

    The joint project on public administration reforms will operate from October 2017-December 2020. The total budget amounts to USD 1,200,000.

  • Until the end of the year Ukraine will have a MobileID

    The authorities fulfilled all obligations for the implementation of MobileID in Ukraine. About this on his page in Facebook said the Deputy head of the State Agency for e-government in Ukraine Alexey Vyskov.

    According to the official, in Ukraine now possible to use a digital signature on the basis of the European cryptoalgorithm ECDSA. It is a question of harmonizing this cryptoalgorithm was one of the most problematic on the way to the introduction of MobileID in the country.

  • Yanukovych: Ukraine to fulfill obligations on introduction of biometric passports

    Ukraine is set to fulfill its obligations to the Council of Europe on the introduction of biometric passports, Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has said.

    "I have one wish – I want to fulfill the requirements and the plan of the liberalization of visa travel," the president told journalists in Krushynka (Kyiv region) on Wednesday.

    The head of state said that this is also the wish of Ukrainian citizens, as they have to pay "a lot of money" to travel abroad.
