Transforming Government since 2001
Head of the State Committee on Science, Innovation and Information Technology Volodymyr Semynozhenko has said that the Cabinet of Ministers at a meeting on November 17 could approve a plan for "electronic government" in Ukraine.

"We expect that in a week at a government meeting a plan for electronic government will be approved," he told reporters in Kyiv on Monday.

Semynozhenko said he hopes that the government at the meeting also approves a plan for the introduction of electronic government in the country and consider a draft law on an electronic government information system.

According to him, the introduction of electronic government in Ukraine will promote more efficient cooperation between agencies of the state government and citizens, facilitate the access of legal and private entities to state information resources, as well as allow state agencies to switch to electronic exchanges of documents.

In addition, at a meeting of the board of the committee, the results of a pilot program on the development of electronic government for the period November 2011 through November 2012 were presented.
