  • Việt Nam, France forge stronger ICT co-operation

    Minister of Information and Communication Trương Minh Tuấn has expressed hope that French businesses, with their advantages in capital and information and experience in international business, will continue investing in Việt Nam.

    At a meeting with French Minister of State for Economy, Industry and Digital Technology Bertrand Pailhes during his visit to France from November 26 to 29, Minister Tuấn said that since the two countries set up their strategic partnership in 2013, bilateral co-operation had thrived in all fields, including information and communication technology (ICT).

  • AE: Department of Finance and Dubai eGovernment sign strategic partnership agreement and MoU

    Partnership covers GRP systems and ePayment services

    A strategic cooperation and partnership agreement was recently signed at the Department of Finance headquarters at H.H. Dubai Ruler's Court, between the Department of Finance (DoF) and Dubai eGovernment to manage and govern the Government Resources Planning (GRP) systems and other financial and accounting systems being used or to be implemented or developed across government bodies in Dubai. The agreement covers all technical, practical and contractual procedures, policies and accounting structures. Both parties have also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the implementation of ePay service.

  • AE: Ministry, Emirates eGovernment discuss ways of co-operation

    Emirates eGovernment received a delegation from the Ministry of Finance at its office in the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) building in Dubai. The delegation met Richard Kerby, senior Inter-Regional Adviser, Division for Public Administration and Development Management at the United Nations’ Department of Economic and Social Affairs.

    The delegation listened to a presentation from Kerby about international criteria of eTransformation, improving eServices and online presence for the ministry. He also highlighted best practices of publishing data and statistics in open formats to be used by the public. Kerby answered the delegation’s questions on how to improve eServices and other eGovernment aspects in the ministry.

  • Anger over EC medical data-sharing scheme

    The European Commission is about to call for proposals on how patients' medical details would be shared between its member states, with the UK almost certain to be included in the scheme.

    Within the next few days, an initiative called the Competitiveness and Innovation Framework Programme (CIP) will be adopted as part of Framework 7, a massive drive by the EU to fund research and development, with e-health being a major beneficiary.

  • Australia-New Zealand Agreement to Significantly Cut Business Red Tape

    The Assistant Treasurer, Senator Nick Sherry has today announced a world-first agreement between the Australian and New Zealand Governments to continue cutting business reporting red tape.

    Visiting Wellington, the Assistant Treasurer announced the formalisation of the Memorandum of Understanding on Standard Business Reporting (MOU SBR) with his New Zealand counterpart, the Hon Simon Power, New Zealand Minister of Commerce.

  • AZ: Ambassador: “Sweden sees Azerbaijan as strategic ICT partner in Caucasus”

    Azerbaijani Minister of Communication and Information Technologies Ali Abbasov has met with Mikael Eriksson.

    According to Ministry, stressing the reforms in ICT sector, national and regional projects implemented, the ambassador noted that Sweden sees Azerbaijan as strategic ICT partner in Caucasus. According to Eriksson, Swedish leading companies are interested in investing in Azerbaijan and State Fund for IT Development, as well as techno park, to be established, will allow realization of these projects.

  • Azerbaijan, Belarus to launch ICT working group

    Azerbaijan and Belarus will discuss bilateral cooperation in the ICT sector at this year's BakuTel International Information and Communication Technologies Exhibition in Baku.

    The sides will also discuss establishing an ICT bilateral cooperation working group, Azerbaijani Communications and IT Ministry Scientific Capacity and Strategic Planning Department Director Isfandiyar Aliyev told Trend. The group's first meeting will be held in early 2011.

    Azerbaijan has presented a list of its proposed working group members to Belarus. Belarus is expected to present a similar list to the Azerbaijani side.

  • Azerbaijan, Estonia define priority areas for cooperation

    Azerbaijan and Estonia have an opportunity to continue the cooperation in creating "electronic government", Azerbaijani Deputy Communications and IT Minister, Mammadov Iltimas said at the Estonian-Azerbaijani business forum in Baku on Friday.

    "The development of information technology and satellite launch creates great opportunities for cooperation with other countries, including with Estonia. A good example of this cooperation is the creation of the most important link of "electronic government" - its electronic portal by the Estonian company Subernet together with local companies," Mammadov said.

  • Azerbaijan, South Korea consider opportunities to expand cooperation in ICT sphere

    Azerbaijanand Koreaconsider the perspectives of development of the bilateral cooperation in the sphere of information and communication technologies, Azerbaijani Deputy Minister of Communications and IT Elmir Valizade said July 28.

    He said issues will be considered during the two-day joint workshop on ICT, which started today. The Korean side's delegation includes representatives from 22 enterprises and companies.

  • BD: IT leaders seek Indian support to train professionals

    Entrepreneurs in the IT sector yesterday sought Indian support to help train Bangladeshi professionals as the country has a scarcity of skilled people in the industry.

    They also urged their Indian counterparts to assist Bangladesh in winning a larger share of the global IT business.

    Bangladesh has a huge shortage of skilled IT professionals as the educational institutions in the country cannot produce the expected number of skilled people, said Mustafa Jabbar, president of Bangladesh Computer Samity (BCS), the national association of ICT companies.

    Botswana Export Development and Investment Authority (BEDIA) and Singapore Information Communication Technology (ICT) Federation last week signed a memorandum of agreement which will lead to increased knowledge sharing in the ICT field.

    According to the spirit of the agreement, Singapore ICT companies will be able to partner with local companies whenever they find opportunities in other African countries.

  • Britische Regierung will Datenaustausch zwischen Behörden erleichtern

    Der britische Premierminister Tony Blair hat Pläne bekannt gegeben, den Austausch von Daten über Bürger zwischen den Behörden zu erleichtern. Die Pläne waren zuvor über die britischen Medien wie die BBC bekannt geworden und hatten bereits heftige Kritik geweckt. Diese veranlasste den Gesundheitsminister John Hutton in einem BBC-Radiointerview zu der Beschwichtigung, die Pläne seien keine weiteren Schritte in Richtung eines Überwachungsstaates. Die Regierung wolle keine "riesige Datenbank" oder ein neues IT-System einrichten, und die Bürger würden nicht dazu verpflichtet, ihre Daten preiszugeben.
  • Brunei, Republic of Korea Ink Deal For Cooperation In E-Government

    Brunei and the government of the Republic of Korea, yesterday signed an agreement which will open up avenues for cooperation between the Sultanate and the world's current leader in e-government, particularly in helping out the former's drive in capacity building.

    "The MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) signed today paves the way for cooperative activities, including joint studies and workshops on e-government, the establishment of countermeasures to mitigate any adverse effects of e-government such as the provision of support for the establishment of information security policy and technology, and also mutual human resource development in ICT through personnel interchanges," said a press release from the signing.

  • Brunei, Republic of Korea Team Up For E-Government Cooperation

    In line with one of the top priorities of the e-Government Strategic Plan of 2009-2014, Brunei has reached another remarkable milestone in its drive towards achieving the national e-government initiative by joining venture with the Republic of Korea.

    The signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) and the Ministry of Public Administration and Security (MOPAS), Republic of Korea, on cooperation in the area of e-Government was held at the Empire Hotel and Country Club yesterday morning.

  • Brunei, South Korea To Step Up ICT Cooperation

    The IT-Cooperative Committee between Brunei Darussalam and the Republic of Korea for the implementation of e-Government services agreed upon through the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed last week between the two governments is expected to be established within the next two months.

    The purpose of this committee is to allow working-level officials to decide and implement avenues of the cooperation, which will best benefit Brunei's relatively novel e-Government system and yield as much as possible from, according to the United Nations, the top e-Government system in the world.

  • Brunei: Bandar Seri Begawan, Seoul On Path Of Mutual Benefit

    The recent Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on e-government between South Korea and Brunei has paved a solid basis upon which they can pursue many partnerships for mutual benefit.

    According to Park II (picture), "The Korea Embassy of Brunei would like to place a special meaning on the recent MoU because it is a follow-up action to the summit between His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and President Lee Myung-bak which was held in June 2009, in Jeju Island, S Korea."

    Also the Counsellor and Deputy Chief of Mission at the Korea Embassy, he mentioned that during the talks, the two leaders agreed to strengthen cooperation between Brunei and S Korea in areas of ICT.
