  • LU: National geoportal releases new version

    The national geoportal, which acts as a single entry point for all official geodata in Luxembourg, launched several new features in May 2011: a mobile version, route planning, a third dimension (altitude) display and advanced printing.

    Initially launched on 10 February 2011 by the Cadastre and Topography Administration of the Grand-Duchy of Luxembourg, the geoportal provides access to the general public mapping window, free access to various thematic mapping windows and an eshop for online ordering of geodata and related products.

    Mit der Einführung digitaler geographischer Daten läutet die Stadtverwaltung eine neue Ära im Umgang mit Fachinformationen ein. Künftig werden im stadtinternen Computersystem (Intranet) Fachdaten für alle Mainzer Gemarkungen abrufbar sein. "GINT - Geodaten digital aufbereitet" nennt sich das neue System, mit dem sich künftig städtische Mitarbeiter in wenigen Sekunden die unterschiedlichsten Pläne und Karten auf den Bildschirm holen können.

  • Malaysia adopts new GIS crime mapping system

    Malaysia has adopted a new GIS crime mapping system called “Safe City Monitoring System” as part of the country’s on-going efforts to ensure that crime prevention initiatives under the Government Transformation Program’s National Key Results Area are on track and sustainable.

    “This clearly shows that we are very serious about ensuring that our cities are safe and free from all physical, social and mental threats,” said Kamalruddin Shamsudin, deputy director-general of the Federal Department of Town and Country Planning Peninsular Malaysia.

  • Malaysia launches GIS-based dengue monitoring portal

    In a bid to improve efforts to control, monitor, and respond to a rising number of dengue cases in the country, the Ministry of Health launched a GIS-based web portal called I-Dengue, which aims to provide the public with the latest information on dengue hotspots and preventive measures on how citizens can avoid getting the& disease.

    Official reports cited the rising number of dengue cases from 10,352 with 19 deaths recorded from January to June, 2012 to 10,401 cases with 20 deaths in the same period, this year.

  • Malaysian State pushes GIS for development planning

    Second Minister of Resource Planning and Environment, Datuk Amar Tengah Ali Hasan, emphasised, early this week, the growing importance of leveraging Geographic Information Systems (GIS) in enhancing the planning and decision making capabilities of public sector organisations.

    According to the Minister, GIS at present is recognised as an evolving field with an equally growing importance in various sectors within the national and global economy.

    “As the outlook for the Geospatial Industry is promising, the State Government of Sarawak wishes to take advantage of the industry’s continued transformation and proficiency, to enhance its own development and economic planning capabilities and the sustainable use of our rich natural resources,” he said.

  • Managing Malaysia’s Water Utilities with GIS

    Sr. Mohd Hazley Halim, Head of Facility Management at the National Water Asset Management Company in Malaysia shares with FutureGov how they are leveraging mapping technology to improve management of crucial water utilities.

    The Water Asset Management Company or Pengurusan Aset Air Berhad (PAAB) is a wholly owned entity under the Ministry of Finance. It forms part of the Federal Government’s efforts to restructure the water services industry in Malaysia to achieve efficiency and quality in the delivery of water services to the public.

  • Mecklenburg-Vorpommern: 1,68 Mio Euro für den Ausbau eines landeseinheitlichen Zugangs zu Geodaten

    Mit insgesamt 1,68 Millionen Euro aus dem EFRE-Fonds der Europäischen Union wird ein Projekt gefördert, das den leichteren Zugang zu Online-Diensten der Verwaltung für Bürger und Unternehmen ermöglicht. Zugleich soll die Bildung durchgängiger und integrierter Arbeitsprozesse der öffentlichen Verwaltung in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern weiter vorangebracht werden. Einen entsprechenden Zuwendungsbescheid übergibt Innenminister Lorenz Caffier heute dem Landrat des Landkreises Nordvorpommern, Ralf Drescher.

  • Neues Geo-Internetportal aus Rheinland-Pfalz bündelt "Datenschätze der Verwaltung"

    Rheinland-Pfalz-Reise per Internet, mit Luftbildern und zahlreichen Gebietsangaben: Das ermöglicht ein neues Internetangebot des Landes, das der rheinland-pfälzische Innenminister Karl Peter Bruch (SPD) am Montag in Mainz offiziell in Betrieb genommen hat. Unter www.geoportal.rlp.de kann künftig jedermann zahlreiche Informationen zu allen Landesteilen abrufen – etwa zu Baulandpreisen, Naturschutzauflagen oder Bebauungsplänen. Dafür seien etwa 70 verschiedene Datenbestände von etwa 20 Ämtern in einem Portal zusammengefasst worden, erklärte Ministerialrat Hans-Gerd Stoffel. Sogar einzelne Gebäude können aus der Luft betrachtet werden.

  • Niedersachsen: Kabinett fördert Nutzung von Geoinformationen

    Das Kabinett hat am Dienstag auf Vorschlag von Innenminister Uwe Schünemann beschlossen, die Möglichkeiten, den Nutzen und die Kosten einer Geodateninfrastruktur Niedersachsen (GDI-NI) zu prüfen. Dazu werden die Ressorts gebeten, ihre Datenbestände, Vorhaben und bisherige Maßnahmen, die für die GDI-NI von Bedeutung sind, zu benennen. Zur Prüfung des Aufbaus der GDI-NI sowie zur Koordinierung der weiteren Entwicklung soll ein Lenkungsausschuss GDI-NI eingerichtet werden, in dem alle Ressorts vertreten sind. Die Nutzer von Geoinformationen des Landes Niedersachsen aus Kommunen, Wirtschaft und Wissenschaft sollen einbezogen werden.

  • NL: Geo-standards added to the 'comply or explain' list

    Geo-standards have been added to the 'comply or explain' list of open standards of the Dutch Standardisation Board (College Standaardisatie, in Dutch), it was announced on 24 March 2011. This means that all Dutch government organisations must now incorporate and implement these standards, where applicable.

    Using geo-standards will make it easier and more efficient for parties in the public sector and outside to find, share and use geographical information. Geographical information plays an increasingly important role in daily life, in usages such as weather maps and route planners. The public sector needs geographical information for such tasks as town planning.

  • Nordrhein-Westfalen: Duisburg: Geodaten online

    Ein weiterer Schritt in Richtung E-Government wird jetzt durch den Bereich Vermessung, Kataster und Geoinformation des Stadtentwicklungsdezernates gegangen: Die Daten des „Automatisierten Liegenschaftsbuchs“, der „Automatisierten Liegenschaftskarte“ und der „Deutschen Grundkarte (DGK 5)“, des Stadtplans, der Luftbildkarte und der Bodenrichtwertkarte können zunächst für einen festgelegten Benutzerkreis online abgerufen werden. Voraussetzung für die Nutzung muss ein dienstliches Interesse sein. Außerdem müssen die rechtlichen Voraussetzungen zur Nutzung der Daten gegeben sein. In der ersten Phase des Probebetriebes sind dies die Sparkasse Duisburg, ein öffentlich bestellter Vermessungsingenieur, das Finanzamt und ein Sachverständigenbüro.

  • Nordrhein-Westfalen: Katasteramt des Kreises Lippe führt bundesweit erstmalig neue Software ein

    Innenminister Wolf: Nordrhein-Westfalen setzt Maßstäbe im E-Government

    Bundesweit erstmalig nahm heute (1. September) das Katasteramt des Kreises Lippe das Amtliche Liegenschaftskataster-Informationssystem (ALKIS) in Betrieb. "Damit setzt die Vermessungs- und Katasterverwaltung in Nordrhein-Westfalen Maßstäbe im E-Government", sagte Innenminister Dr. Ingo Wolf dazu in Düsseldorf. ALKIS sei ein weiteres Zeichen für eine leistungsstarke und bürgerorientierte Verwaltung. Wolf: "Das Liegenschaftskataster steht den Bürgerinnen und Bürgern über das Internet rund um die Uhr zur Verfügung - jenseits von Öffnungszeiten."

  • Nordrhein-Westfalen: Landkarten und Luftbilder im Internet abrufbar

    Landkarten und Luftbilder von Nordrhein-Westfalen sind nun erstmals online für Jedermann verfügbar. Den Service bietet das Landesvermessungsamt NRW unter www.tim-online.nrw.de an, teilte das Düsseldorfer Innenministerium mit.

    Zudem können Bürger sich aktiv an der Aktualisierung beteiligen, wenn sie feststellen, dass eine Karte nicht mehr auf dem neuesten Stand ist. Dazu sei eine Zeichenfunktion mit Kommentarfeld in die Karten eingebaut. Die Änderungen würden per E-Mail an das Vermessungsamt gemeldet und zur Aktualisierung des Datenbestandes verwendet.

  • Nordrhein-Westfalen: Neuer Online-Shop macht Geobasisdaten schnell verfügbar

    Seit Freigabe des neuen Online-Shops www.geobasis.nrw.de durch Nordrhein-Westfalens Innenminister Dr. Ingo Wolf am 12. April 2006 in Düsseldorf können Geobasisdaten wie topographische Karten, Luftbilder und Geländemodelle rund um die Uhr über das Internet bestellt werden. Unter www.geobasis.nrw.de findet jeder Interessierte einen detaillierten Überblick über das Angebot nordrhein-westfälischer Geobasisdaten. Besonderer Vorteil ist, dass die Daten nach der Bestellung vollautomatisch über das Internet bereitgestellt werden.

  • NZ: GIS property search added to Hamilton Council website

    A new GIS Mapping Viewer allows visitors to Hamilton City Council's website to find information on properties with just a few clicks of a mouse.

    The GIS Mapping Viewer was launched this week, the latest in a suite of e-services available at www.hamilton.co.nz and the first tool of its kind provided through a local government website. It is a free service.

    Council's Chief Information Officer Eion Hall says the new initiative means quick and easy access to the rating and property value information for any property in the city, through an on-screen search function.

  • OGC Prototyping US Government's Open Platform ''GeoSpatial One-Stop Portal

    The Open GIS Consortium (OGC) announced today that work on the Geospatial One Stop Portal architecture and prototype is well underway by OGC member companies. As of this date, the following companies are actively participating or have agreed to provide technology: Compusult, CubeWerx, Galdos Systems, SAIC, Autodesk, Intergraph, PCI Geomatics, Sapient Technology, Questerra, Oracle and Northrop Grumman Information Technology, TASC. Twenty companies offered proposals in response to a December, 2002 Request for Quotations (RFQ)/Call for Participation (CFP) in the OGC Geospatial One-Stop Portal Initiative (GOS-PI).
