Sweden leads Europe in provision of government services online, according to a new report from Cap Gemini Ernst and Young. The report looks at the ability of EU member nations as well as Norway, Switzerland and Iceland to connect with citizens and businesses online for the payment of taxes; register marriages, births and deaths; and apply for permits and licences - amongst other services.
The number of services offered over the internet climbed to 12 per cent of total possible government services, with 86 per cent of public service providers having developed some form of online service provision.
