Visitors and locals can now explore Benalla Rural City in a whole new way, thanks to a new interactive touchscreen at the Benalla Visitor Information Centre.
Installed at the entrance to the centre, the large screen lets people swipe and tap their way through local attractions, history, events, and services. With bright visuals and clear information, it’s easy to use for people of all ages and backgrounds, said Mayor Bernie Hearn.
“This new touchscreen is a fun way for both locals and visitors to discover Benalla and our surrounding towns,” Mayor Hearn said.
“For visitors, it’s full of ideas to help plan their trip before heading out exploring.
“It’s also useful for local people. You can find out about events, services, and what’s happening around our Rural City.
“It’s a reminder that Benalla is not only a great place to visit, but also a wonderful place to call home.”
The project goes beyond the Visitor Centre, with two new digital information billboards installed at key locations – in Bridge Street near the newsagents, and by the lake near the Ceramic Mural. These displays share up-to-date details on events, news, and community announcements, helping residents and visitors stay informed and connected.
“The screens are designed to keep growing and evolving, with content that can be updated quickly to highlight seasonal attractions, new services, and community feedback,” said the Mayor.
“They will continue to be a useful tool for both locals and visitors, helping people stay connected and discover more of what makes Benalla special.”
The project was funded by the Australian Government’s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program.
