GovPass to cut Tax File Number application time from a month to minutes, acting DTA chief executive says

The Digital Transformation Agency (DTA) plans to launch the pilot of its GovPass digital identity program in October, allowing participants to conduct the process of applying for a Tax File Number completely online.

There are some 750,000 applications for TFNs every year, acting DTA Randall Brugeaud told the CeBit eGovernment Conference.

The Australian Digital Health Agency is set to test new models of healthcare that are enabled or enhanced by the forthcoming personal e-health record.

The operator of the record system said it is looking to fund a series of test bed projects in partnership with industry and academia to feed into the creation of digitally-enabled services and new models of healthcare.

For city planners, the great promise of a 5G network is the ability to deliver on the promises of smart cities. While much of the technology required for smart cities already exists, the capacity for the technology to operate in real time across an interconnected network has been held back by the current network standards.

However, analysts are tipping 5G will reduce these barriers and spur the development of more applications to enhance citizens’ lives.

Australia's first pop-up embassy, where an ambassador is present on a short-term basis as needed rather than full time, was opened in the Estonian capital of Tallinn on Monday.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Sven Mikser (SDE) and Australian Ambassador to Estonia Kerin Ann Burns Ayyalaraju attended the opening, while Australian Minister of Foreign Affairs Julie Bishop joined th event via Skype, according to a ministry press release.

When serial entrepreneur Dean McEvoy looks for new investment opportunities he searches for someone who is in love with solving a problem. And that is what he found with Tyde creator Romain Bonjean.

French-born Bonjean and his co-founders Shamus Cooper and Sudeep Gohil (both are Tyde advisers) launched the health business two years ago. Tyde is the first consumer-focused app for the federal government's My Health Record platform that is being rolled out by the Australian Digital Health Agency.
