eGovernment Forschung seit 2001 | eGovernment Research since 2001
The government Saturday decided to establish a general consultation center to answer inquiries regarding an e-government system, which will enable people to complete administrative procedures online, in fiscal 2005. The center, created to unify efforts to provide e-government information, will respond to questions 24 hours a day, and people will be able to call it toll-free from anywhere in Japan.

The government has decided to have all administrative procedures handled online by fiscal 2003. The idea has already been used for an electronic bidding system for public works projects.

The government also plans to allow administrative procedures to be completed seven days a week from fiscal 2005.

The new center is expected to become the main portal for such inquiries. It was established to deal with diverse questions before the e-government system is fully realized. The center also is intended to improve convenience for people using the e-government system.

The center will be set up under the Public Management Ministry, which will outsource the operations of the center to private companies. The center will accept inquiries by telephone, Internet, fax and normal mail.
