Government websites are so bad they are largely ignored by the public. This critical assessment of the government's progress in making services available online was made by the influential House of Commons Public Accounts Committee.
According to the BBC the committee found that information on some government sites was out of date or inaccurate.
The Downing Street website, for example, did not have a complete, up-to-date list of ministers, while the UK Online site had as the latest 'hot topic' information on the Budget - nearly two months after the event.
The committee said users need to be able to get information from a single source, and websites needed to be designed around specific services
