The agenda of the meeting -which is co-organized with the government of Colombia and the Inter-American Development Bank- will focus on discussing progress, lessons learned and challenges of the region in e-government, and will address critical issues such as cyber security, open data, investment return and the measurement of impact of e-government projects, and the use of social media by governments.
In addition, strategic guidelines will be discussed to guide the work over the next two years of the Network of e-Government Leaders of Latin America and the Caribbean (Red GEALC), a platform for political dialogue and exchange of best practices in e-Government that countries in the region, supported by organizations such as the OAS and the IDB have developed over more than a decade.
The OAS delegation will be made up of the Director of the Department for Effective Public Management of the Secretariat for Political Affairs, María Fernanda Trigo; the Executive Secretary of the Inter-American Committee against Terrorism (CICTE), Neil Klopfenstein; the coordinator of the Electronic Government Program, Steven Griner; and the specialist in this area, Mike Mora.
For more than five years, the OAS has coordinated the GELAC Network, which helps to strengthen the bonds of cooperation between authorities in the region on e-government policies.
This will be the eighth meeting of the Network and the third at the ministerial level, and will include the participation of representatives from Spain, Portugal, and South Korea.
