Estonian Prime Minister Andrus Ansip says that the economic situation in the Baltic Sea states is among the best in the European Union, but the region's economic growth could be accelerated by cross-border environment-friendly infrastructure and a common energy and digital market.

"The long-term economic success of our region depends on linking our countries," Ansip said at the Baltic Sea States Development Forum in Copenhagen, as reported by the government's press service. He pointed out the Rail Baltica project that would expand markets for entrepreneurs, would create jobs and contribute to the economic growth of the region.

Ansip said that Baltic Sea states have a good chance of being advocates of cross-border e-services in the EU. "Each of us is a successful user of e-solutions at home but now we should take the next step," said Ansip, adding that it is important to work on developing a common working digital market.
