Arkadag, the first «smart» city in the region, was created in one of the most beautiful corners of the country - in the foothills of the Kopetdag Mountains on the initiative of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Hero-Arkadag and under the leadership of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov. The best traditions of national architecture, modern trends in urban development and design are harmoniously combined in this unique city, which has a special legal status of a city of national importance. It is also worth noting that the city has a developed infrastructure that meets international standards in the field of ecology and nature conservation. The construction of the city has become the highest indicator of the socio-economic development of Turkmenistan.
The use of advanced information and communication technologies in the construction of the city, the introduction of environmentally friendly types of public transport, the creation of green areas and digital services in it provide a convenient and comfortable life for the population. At the time of its opening, the city joined the project «Development of sustainable, green, climate-friendly cities with innovative solutions in the region of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe» and received 21 international awards.
Last year, the city won the main award «For outstanding achievements in the field of «smart» city» at the international exhibition World Smart City Expo 2024, held in the Republic of Korea, the international awards «Foreign «smart» city» and «For great contribution to the World Exhibition «World Smart City Expo 2024,» and was also awarded the quality award «Quality Choice-2024» «Diamond» category from the European Society for Quality Research, located in Vienna. This testifies to the growing authority of Arkadag as a «smart» city not only in the region, but also throughout the world.
National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov is carrying out large-scale activities to turn the city into one of the most beautiful and comfortable places to live in the world. Today, the city of Arkadag has become the pride of the entire Turkmen people. At the first stage of the construction of the new city, 336 socio-cultural and other various facilities were built. Currently, the second stage of the city is under construction, harmoniously combining the best traditions of national architecture and modern trends in urban development. Residential buildings, cultural and community facilities, and administrative buildings of the city are equipped with the most advanced innovative solutions. Modern residential buildings built using the «smart home» technology are the main feature of the city of Arkadag, based on the concept of a «smart city».
Along with all the amenities to improve the quality of life of residents, they have an intelligent home management system that ensures automatic and uninterrupted operation of all areas of life support and home security via the Internet. As a result, the house can be controlled remotely using a smartphone. The introduction of a fiber-optic communication system in the new city allows you to use high-speed Internet.
Particular attention is paid to ensuring the environmental well-being of the city of Arkadag. Along with cultural, household and industrial facilities in the city, great importance is attached to the creation of cultural and park areas and the construction of fountains. This clearly shows that during the construction of the new city, strict compliance with environmental requirements, the creation of a clean environment that allows people to live a happy and long life are not neglected. In this regard, in order to preserve the natural beauty of the area where the city of Arkadag is located, «green» technologies were widely used through the introduction of digital and intelligent systems as part of the implementation of the concept of a «smart» city. For the cultural recreation of the townspeople, park complexes surrounded by gardens and decorated in the national spirit have been created. High-rise buildings, residential complexes of the city, beautiful avenues, high-rise buildings and beautiful parks symbolise the rapid movement of the Turkmen people towards a bright future, which is the result of the concern of the President of Turkmenistan for the steady increase in the standard of living of the people.
Medical institutions in Arkadag city meet the highest international standards. The city's healthcare system includes several medical facilities. Among them are a multidisciplinary hospital, a Children's Health and Rehabilitation Centre, an oncology centre, a Maternal and Child Health Centre, an emergency centre, and a polyclinic. The creation of such high-level medical centres not only stimulates the modernisation of the healthcare system, but also helps Turkmenistan become one of the medical centers in the region. An initiative to create a medical cluster is also being implemented in Arkadag city. Currently, the «Arkadag Medisina Klasteri Menejment» company produces environmentally friendly medical products from local raw materials that meet international quality standards for healthcare institutions in the country. Recently, the trademark of the Arkadag medical cluster products was approved by the corresponding certificate of the International Bureau of the World Intellectual Property Organisation. This became further evidence that the foundations of the country's healthcare system are being strengthened at a modern level, and the capabilities of the system are developing in accordance with international standards. An important event in the life of our people was the assignment of the names of outstanding figures of the Turkmen people to educational, medical, cultural institutions and artistic monuments of the city of Arkadag. In particular, the assignment of the high artistic monument in the central park the name of a prominent political figure of our time, the National Leader of the Turkmen people Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Hero-Arkadag opened a new page in the history of Turkmen art and urban development. In general, the city of Arkadag is a wonderful example of national architecture, embodying advanced world experience and technical achievements. This is also evidenced by the international recognition of the city of Arkadag.
