The Latvian Minister for Regional Development and Local Government stated that in the next few years the government services will act as a one-stop shop for citizens' needs.

On 3 November 2009, the Ministry of Regional Development and Local Government of the Republic of Latvia, the State Regional Development Agency (SRDA) in collaboration with the Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs (OCMA), which is under the supervision of the Ministry of Interior of Republic of Latvia presented a jointly developed electronic service: the ability to online declare a residence.

This service can now be used not only from e-signature holders but also from all other internet users, who have a bank account in one of the three main Latvian banks. The Minister of Interior, Linda Murniece, stated that the opportunity to declare a new residence online will also assist the work of both the state and the local authorities. On the same day the new service was launched, 89 residents made use of it.

The Minister for Regional Development and Local Government, Edgar Zalāns, highlighted that the implementation of the egovernment strategy will be continued in the next two years, as it is planned with the public administration-related services to provide a one-stop shop for citizens and businesses. According to the Director of the State Regional Development, Maris Krastiņš, the Information Centre of the Ministry of Interior will develop an e-service, which will search for unpaid administrative fines, while the OCMA will launch a search engine for those looking for an old friend or acquaintance.

The www.latvija.lv portal is a centralised access point to public eServices, linking together 670 websites of Public Administrations institutions providing a variety of 89 eGovernment services for citizens and businesses. The SRDA plans to extend the electronic services further in order to attract a wider audience, such as banks.
