The Government of Sweden has allocated a €1.5 million (3.3 million GEL) grant for Georgia’s Public Service Development Agency.
Specifically, the money will be used by the Agency, a legal entity of public law operating under the management of the Ministry of Justice, to develop the services offered to those in Georgia’s central and rural areas.
A statement released today by the Government of Georgia noted the money would help the country take action in two main directions – to increase the opportunities of Agency to develop further its central and regional services, and to develop the already existing regional services.
In the first direction, action to develop central and regional services will be made in the following ways:
- Improving the existing business processes and developing new approaches. In particular, action will be taken to strengthen the case management system.
- to create new internal regulations and guiding principles.
- to improve electronic ID card software.
- to improve the Digital Document Management System which will enable foreign diplomats to establish a relationship with the Georgian Government and the private sector with secured diplomatic cards.
- ensure the digitalization of an additional 500,000 Civil Acts.
- Developing the Innovation Management Process. In particular, to develop the Innovation Service Laboratory, which was created in the Public Service Development Agency.
Meanwhile in the second direction, which implies development of regional services, the following action will be taken:
- Strengthen the capacity of the local governance through introducing E-governance. About 10 municipalities will be equipped with the special systems for implementing E-governance.
- Encouraging the civic sector to be involved in the municipalities’ cultural, educational or informational activities.
