Transforming Government since 2001

The nation of Zambia has reportedly taken dynamic, innovative steps to advance its I.T. agenda and further invest in communication technologies at home and throughout the Southern African Development Countries (S.A.D.C) to the benefit of its citizenry. We at BlueCosmo Satellite Communications, proud of our truly international reach, believe these ambitions could not have been recommended at a more appropriate time.

Further, recent remarks by that nation’s leadership, if backed up by significant action, could serve as a benchmark for emerging markets in Africa and around the world to follow in order to strengthen business ties, promote future private and public sector partnerships and modernize ‘e-governance’ through the advancement of communications technology.

Unfortunately there is little doubt that the country is experiencing difficulties in its power supply. State utility provider ZESCO has struggled with load shedding this year, which can often affect traditional mobile phone service coverage, which can become pressing in emergency situations. This is one of the reasons why a number of our corporate clients operating in Zambia choose to keep sat phones available to their management staff, to ensure that no matter what the power situation, there will always be open lines of communication.

The concept is appreciated at the top as well. Understanding the need to bridge the present and longstanding information divide between urban and rural areas of the country, connecting farmers to manufacturers, schools and colleges to appropriate governing bodies and indeed even parents to children, Zambian Deputy Minister of Information and Broadcasting Services Forrie Tembo recently acknowledged to that country’s Daily Mail newspaper that communication in rural and other far-flung areas of Zambia nonetheless remains a great challenge.

This could not be more apropos a remark. Make no mistake – contemporary business in the West or in emerging Africa can no longer function in coordinated fashion without modern communication.

It has been stated that there is no formula for affluence, nor a manual for an intrepid investor looking to integrate in to one of the multiple emerging markets positioned within its resource-rich SADC. However, BlueCosmo Satellite Communications prides itself on its role as a solutions provider and our ability to offer a roadmap towards greater connectivity.

Whether facilitating the coordination of base-camp operations in natural disaster relief efforts, synchronization of defense endeavors in high-risk security matters or in daily operations as an apparatus to further the agenda of corporations and governance in growing marketplaces, we believe strongly that satellite communication technology has quietly integrated itself to today being fundamental to our socioeconomic fabric.

Business can be done better through connectivity and we are proud to play a pivotal role in that process.
