The Swiss Government is expected to adopt an update to the currently valid e-Gov Strategy one year sooner than originally planned, reported Inside-IT.ch. The current strategy was adopted in 2016 for the period until the end of 2019.
The Ministry of Finance wants to update the strategy, so that the new one can go in effect from the beginning of 2019. The ministry is working on the development of framework conditions, such as interoperability, data security, as well as the basic infrastructure, including electronic identity.
Transitory provisions will provide a guarantee for completion of ongoing projects. For the introduction of electronic identity project, the Taxation Committee has agreed with an additional financing of CHF 400,000, with CHF 200,000 to be allocated for the creation of a national address service.
The main priorities until 2019 include the implementation of measures related to e-Gov portal services; mainly the increase of the e-voting to two thirds of cantons with the budgeted amount of CHF 1.53 million.
Until 2020, the foundations for the nationally accepted e-ID will be laid, with the budgeted amount of CHF 1.58 million.
Total expenditure for the implementation of an e-Government Strategy will amount to CHF 19.8 million from 2017 to 2019.
