The initiative to develop a joint municipal recruitment service was taken in 2007-2008 by KuntaIT along with several operators who undertook the network development activity. Kuntarekry.fi is under its first production phase and the service will evolve over time. The Association of Finnish Local and Regional Authorities (AFLRA) has been supporting the project.
Local government provides core services to communities. As the structure of society and of the economy is changing and the population is ageing, an adequate supply of skilled labour is key to tackling present challenges.
Kuntarekry.fi provides a transparent and one-stop service for job-seekers interested in a position in the municipal sector. It is connected to the single job search service of the Finnish Employment Service - www.mol.fi.
KuntaIT, together with the municipal sector recruitment specialists, developed electronic tools aimed at covering all stages of the recruitment process. The system also deals with the management of short-term priority actions for both employers and job seekers. For those job seekers interested in the work of municipalities, dedicated sections of the portal contain plenty of information.
The portal's offer of services for job seekers will gradually increase during the autumn of 2010. The Swedish version of the portal is planned to be made available around the same time period.
The remaining steps of the project consist of the deployment of the solution model and the implementation of support to the introduction of training material. The pilot phase of Kuntarekry.fi took place during the summer of 2010 in 1918 municipal organisations, and 120 recruitment experts were involved. Valuable feedback was received which allowed completing the service.
Background information
KuntaIT is the unit of the Ministry of Finance in charge of coordinating the compatibility of eGovernment services between municipal and regional authorities, thus promoting information interoperability among them.
