Under the wing of the EU Commission, Eurostat has launched a new service — 'Eurostat free and online'. It provides statistical data on the European Union.
Eurostat's free data comprises 1000 tables of statistical information. The tables cover nearly all areas of life, work, the economy and the environment in Europe, with data from all the Member States and acceding countries of the European Union, the European Economic Area and other countries like the USA and Japan. The time series cover at least one decade.
The tables are supplemented with short explanatory notes for clearer understanding of the figures In line with Eurostat's new publishing policy, as of 2004 all Eurostat publications can be downloaded free of charge in PDF format. They are easily accessible through the Eurostat website.
