The accelerated governmental measures taken by Syria indicate to the great attention paid by the Government to the information security and communications in light of the rapidly expanding use of automation in various sectors.
Syria also seeks to provide the governmental services electronically through building information banks using the best standards and security polices to protect the national data.
"We can not establish an e-government without being confident in the sustainability and services of such government," said Assistant Minister of Communication and Technology Bassel al-Khishi.
Al-Khishi indicated to the efforts exerted by the Ministry to spread the culture of information security through training carders, exchanging expertise and adopting the required national policies regarding information security, in addition to putting a number of the standards in cooperation with the European Union (EU) two years ago.
He indicated that the laws in Syria cover all the cyber crimes committed through using the information network or other electronic tools.
Director General of the National Commission for Network Services Dr. Maher Suleiman indicated that the Commission seeks to provide the framework of operating and organizing the basic network services to increase the confidence in exchanging information and services through the networks.
Suleiman added that the Commission works in cooperation with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) on establishing the system of e-signature to be implemented next year.
