Transforming Government since 2001
Government is committed to heightening connectivity awareness in Antigua & Barbuda and to creating an environment for the harmonised development of Information Communication Technology (ICT).

Minister responsible for Information Technology, Dr. Edmond Mansoor, said Antigua & Barbuda has seen an increase in access to telecommunication over the past year.

He said the telecommunication sector continues to be an essential tool for economic and social development and the public has already been getting access to telecommunication services at lower costs.

Dr. Mansoor noted that Antigua & Barbuda continues to improve its telecoms infrastructure and regulatory framework to increase its competitiveness.

“Part of this infrastructure will include the landing of a new submarine fibre optic cable,” he said.

A newly expanded Telecommunications Division has also been developed to meet the new demands, challenges and criteria of the telecommunications sector.

The UPP administration has established the development of information technology as one of its main platform agenda items.

The government’s IT policy includes developing a comprehensive e-government platform to provide the population with easier access to government information and services, and to generally increase the efficiency of interactions between government and its citizens.
