BYND2015 Nepal Hub, in collaboration with Story Cycle, organized a storytelling program last Sunday at Mahabir’s Center for Nepal Connection in Thamel.

The program emphasized on the role that information and communication technologies (ICT) plays in bringing about development in a community.

During the presentation, Kabita Gautam, Founder/Coordinator of BYND2015 Nepal Hub shared, “As a part of crowd-sourcing ideas, BYND2015 Nepal Hub in collaboration with BTND2015-ITU is organizing different activities with the theme ‘ICT for Development and Future Generations.’

The activities will be highlighting issues like entrepreneurship, employment and innovation, climate change and sustainability, child online protection and cyber security, and lifestyle and health, among others.

She also informed that BYND2015 Nepal Hub is an official hub affiliated to International Telecommunication Union (ITU). It aims to engage young people in decision and policymaking processes and other activities regarding Post 2015 Agenda. The agenda refers to the United Nations and civil society mechanisms that will establish sustainable development frameworks for a post-Millennium Development Goals in the world.

BYND2015 Global Youth Summit is being organized by ITU on September 9-11 in San Jose, Costa Rica, to bring together young people all across the globe in the use of ICT.

Saurav Dhakal from Story Cycle also gave a presentation on some of his stories he had captured in pictures in and outside Kathmandu.

Likewise, Sonika Manandhar from Microsoft Innovation Center (MIC) Nepal showed the demonstration of her copter flying in the air. The copter is a project of MIC Nepal and is still under development. It operates with the help of Wi-Fi technology.

The organizers also informed that the whole session will come up with a video which will be submitted to the ITU.
