The District Hospital Bujuwar has operated a telemedicine service for the benefit of the people of remote places for specialist services. The service long in limbo was brought into operation from Sunday.

The service was resumed after equipment was installed at the district hospital by the government. Although equipment of hundreds of thousands of rupees has been used, the hospital has started services with the ADSL internet service of Nepal Telecom.

On the first day of the service, a case of a patient was sent for counseling, said Senior Assistant Health Worker Dadhiram Subedi.

Under the service, a patient can make contact with the specialist doctor of Kathmandu's Model Hospital's central chamber.

According to District Health Office, effective counseling can be received from the services in the district.

The patients can tell their problems, prepare X-ray report and the central chamber will see it, and they can also directly talk to the doctor, said Medical Superintendent Umashankar Chaudhary.
