Patan Hospital has launched telemedicine service for the first time in a bid to provide health service to people of rural areas.

The hospital has started tele-medicine service at 22 districts of Himal and three districts khotang, Sindhuli and Achham of Pahad.

Paramedic Bimal Gautam of the hospital said telemedicine service has been launched in 25 districts as a trial to impart health facility in rural areas.

According to Gautam, telemedicine has been established at district hospitals of the respective districts through VSAT connection. Under this, patients will inform doctors about their problems and the latter will reply their queries through video conference. Presently, doctors are collecting patients´ information and views.

"Video conference is not in service now, only information is being shares," Gautam said, adding that the service will be started soon.
