Modern and fully-automatic judicial system, its efficiency and integrity within the e-government project in line with international standards and replacement of paper into electronic documents are the goals achieved by the information technology (IT) in Macedonia's judiciary.

This was stated by Minister of Justice Mihajlo Manevski at a press conference on Sunday, presenting activities aimed at introducing electronic judiciary.

IT in courts will contribute to the establishment of a more successful communication amongst judicial organs, increased efficiency and operations, usage of data bases and legislation and transparency of the work of judicial organs, being a key element in the independence of Macedonia's judiciary, said Manevski.

More laws, regulations, rule books have been adopted recently according to him, which in fact boosts the functioning of the judiciary.

The Minister also informed that courts had an on-line connection and their own websites, where basic data on judges and their jurisdictions as well as rulings would be displayed.

Manevski said that Ministry's goal was as of January 2010 Macedonia to replace paper records and filed with electronic ones in compliance with Government's strategy.
