Transforming Government since 2001
The Government is moving online. And according to the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Trade and Industry, Edwina Leacock, the plan is to simplify access and delivery of public services by developing an e-Government portal.

Speaking earlier this week on behalf of Minister Ken Valley, at the launch of the newly redesigned Business Development Company's (BDC) website, Leacock said that all Ministries are taking steps to be e-connected. She said: "...Trinidad and Tobago is moving swiftly along with the rest of the world to capitalise on the profound benefits which the Internet provides its users."

She continued: "No longer do we talk about globalisation as an upcoming event. Ask any business person, large or small, service, retail or manufacturer-it is right with us as we speak."

Leacock stressing the importance of BDC's move to upgrade its website, said it follows in the transformation of the nation's economy through development of the non-oil sectors, aiding a knowledge-based society.

The launch took place at the new Trinidad and Tobago Manufacturers Association (TTMA) Conference Facility in Barataria.
