Transforming Government since 2001
As Government ramps up its e-services through the one-stop shop concept, it is looking at setting up self-serve kiosks to provide an automated service option that is both cost effective and timely, according to Kennedy Swaratsingh, Public Administration Minister.

“You will soon be able to choose their preferred mode of access - where they want it, how they want it, and when they want it as each channel becomes operational,” he said in an address at the official launch of the ttconnect suite of services at the Chaguanas Service Centre.

He said decongesting of the respective Government departments is expected to act as motivation and assist in the efforts toward the better alignment of services to customers’ needs.

Noting that there has been re-engineering of services at the backend at the various Ministries who have partnered with ttconnect in support of the friendly efficient service at the Service Centres, he said this has translated into shorter processing times and satisfaction for all.

Service delivery to citizens will be seen as one that is efficient, well-managed and effective, he said.

Introducing the Self Serve arm of ttconnect, he said, this will provide citizens with a further means of accessing Government services in a user-friendly format.

Five kiosks will be piloted throughout Trinidad and Tobago at Piarco International Airport, Hi-Lo Food Stores, Point Fortin, Gulf City Mall, La Romain, Trincity Mall, Trincity and Gulf City Mall, Lowlands. Further, based on the potential of the kiosks to generate traffic, he said opportunities to develop private and public partnerships (PPP) to achieve widespread deployment are high.

He noted that the Self-Serve kiosks are made possible through the advancements of the ttconnect e-Government portal under the ttconnect online arm of the brand.

The National e-Government Portal, www.ttconnect.gov.tt is designed to make all government information available online, he said, adding it was envisioned as a ‘one-stop, non-stop’ point of access to government information and services.

In this regard, www.ttconnect.gov.tt compiled the requisite information on over 400 government services and made that available to the public via an Internet Website in January 2007, he said.
