The Government reforms in the information and communications technologies sector will boost development.

This was announced by Solicitor-General and Acting Permanent Secretary for Communications Sharvada Sharma at the opening of a three-day Capacity Building Training Workshop on E-government development in Pacific Small Island Developing States that began in Suva this morning.

"The Government is indeed very pleased to host this workshop, given the great focus that the Fijian Government has placed in information technology reform and development. Over the last few years the Fijian Government has been involved in partnership with the private sector in reforming the ITC Services.

"The reforms will ensure that we drive efficiency in all aspects of Government operations, and technology plays a key role. Our investment in eServices will make available government services online to its citizens, business and investors.

"The Government has recently launched the Single window clearance for investors whereby through a single application approval is granted for investment. We are hopeful that this will further spur investment by making it easier for the investors to get all approvals."
