Schools and students will soon have the opportunity to register for examinations and check results online, says the Ministry of Education.

The Registration for Examinations and the Provision of Examination Results (EXMS) service is a service that had been selected by the Fiji e-Government Project.

“The service will generally improve coordination between the Examinations & Assessment Unit (EAU) of the ministry and schools,” said interim Education Minister Filipe Bole.

A pilot programme of the new system will be implemented for 15 schools from the central division. These are schools which have internet facilities in existence and are in close proximity to the greater Suva area.

These schools are; Adi Cakobau School, Nasinu Muslim College, Lelean Memorial, Cathedral Secondary School, Ballantine Memorial High School, DAV College (Suva), Gospel High School, Indian College, MGM High School, Marist Brothers High School, Nabua Secondary School, Ratu Sir Lala Memorial School, Rishikul Sanatan College, St Joseph’s Secondary School and Suva Grammar School.

“The selected schools would be able to suggest recommendations on how the online system could be improved or enhanced to meet their requirements,” said Bole.

The pilot implementation would begin with the Fiji Seventh Form Certificate Examination (FSFE) for these selected schools.

Bole said the project would improve the turnaround time of the preparation of results, reduce errors and improve collaboration between EAU and the schools.

“Overall, it will improve the efficiency of the examination process,” he added.
