The new e-Government project in Fiji will enhance businesses but most importantly allow government employees and citizens of Fiji to gain access to government information and services.

Director for e-Government Information Technology and Computing Services (ITCS), Vassist Prasad said technological changes are increasing rapidly over the globe and Fiji needs to adapt to these changing information technology trends.

He said the promotion of Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) adoption by all customers in Fiji remains a top priority and the e-Government project would greatly benefit the customers in the country.

"The Fiji Electronic Government (e-Government) project provides an opportunity to take advantage of the increased productivity, reduced costs and improved customer responsiveness," Mr Prasad said.

Looking at the emerging markets and the increasing competition these days, he said ICT would also be an opportune tool to generate economic growth.

Mr Prasad said Fiji is committed to ensuring that all customers in Fiji will benefit from e-Government initiatives.

"To achieve the overall objective of using IT to provide customer-centric services, ITCS will pursue key priorities under the next wave of e-Government," Mr Prasad said.
