Prime Minister Mizengo Pinda yesterday launched the national website dubbed ‘Government Portal’ - a single window web through which the government would be issuing information.

The Tanzania Government Portal is designed, developed and maintained by e-Government Agency.

The portal’s main objective is to enable a one stop centre interface for public services delivery in a transparent, easy and cost effective manner from various public institutions for the benefit of citizens, businesses, employees and other stakeholders, both within Tanzania and abroad.

The website www.tanzania.go.tz has been divided into six sections namely Government, Citizens, Our Nation, Business, Sectors and Foreign Affairs.

The PM said the portal links all government website and integrate all government systems that provide information and service to the public.

The e-Government Agency (e-GA) Executive Director Dr Jabir Bakari said the information provided in the foreign affairs section includes passport, foreign relations, missions abroad, consulted abroad, visa residents and work permit, travel advisory and others.

The government sections highlighted various government aspects including former and present executive leaders, parliament, policies, acts, constitutions, circulars, rules and regulation guiding public services and the other.

Some of the information found in sector section was comprehensive on sector development activities such as programmes, strategic plans, policies and annual report.

All information about Tanzania people and their cultures, national celebrities, history, national symbol, currency, various speeches delivered by different prominent people will also be found.

In Citizen’s section it provides detail information on the available service p-provided by public institution such as agriculture, economy, employment and health.

One of the objectives of launching the facility is to provide comprehensive, accurate and reliable one-stop-centre for information and service from the government, to enhance transparency and increase efficiency in public service delivery any time.

The business sector provides information: on the following Starting a Business, Managing a Business, Growing Business, Business Financing, Tanzanian Economy, Outsourcing Industry, Services, Trade.

Dr Bakari added that businessmen, employees, students, foreigners, diaspora and other stakeholders in Tanzania and abroad will be able to access the government portal for their benefits.

The government portal provides easy, cheap, fast and reliable government information and services in one-stop-centre to citizens.

The Executive Director noted that the facility also ensures efficiency, transparency and accountability in providing public services at the government citizen’s interface.

In her welcoming remarks, the Minister of State, President Office in Public Service Management Selina Kombani said the portal is a single electronic window web enabled interface that provides access to public information and services anytime and anywhere in Tanzania and abroad.

She said the portal is a hub that links e-service offered by public institutions for citizens and business to interact at the click of button.
