With the theme "Science and technology, prosperity through innovation", a grand inauguration was held in Dohar Upazila of Dhaka.

Dohar UNO and Municipal Administrator Md. Maidul Islam inaugurated the fair at Begum Ayesha Girls'High School and College grounds on Wednesday morning.

Speaking as the chief guest, UNO Maidul Islam said, "There is no alternative to science to build a smart Bangladesh. These young scientists of today are the leaders of tomorrow. Such a science fair will act as a bridge to develop their talent and thinking."

At the fair, students from various schools, colleges and madrasas of the upazila displayed their various projects invented by the upazila administration. The students, giving priority to their talent, presented scientific solutions to various contemporary problems including combating climate change, renewable energy, smart city management, automated traffic control and the use of artificial intelligence in agricultural technology. Their innovative thinking and creativity greatly impressed the parents and the audience.

Moderated by Upazila Animal Resources Officer Md. Shamim Ahmed, the science and technology fair will be held for two days. The upazila administration will distribute awards to the best students participating in the national science and technology fair tomorrow, Thursday. A discussion meeting will also be held by the upazila administration.

Also present at the event were Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Tasfiq Sibgat Ullah, Upazila Agriculture Officer Niaz Mohammad Mithun, Upazila Public Health Officer Mehedi Hasan, headmasters and science teachers of various educational institutions, and local political and social figures.

A huge crowd of students, parents and curious visitors was observed at the fair premises throughout the day. Those concerned believe that this science fair in Doha has opened a new horizon for science practice at the local level.
