Information and Communication Technology (ICT) division’s Senior Secretary N M Zeaul Alam has said the government is aiming to bring more than 90% of the services online by 2021.
Currently, 40% of the government offices are online, he mentioned.
Speaking as the chief guest at dissemination workshop on “e-Government Master Plan for Digital Bangladesh” at Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) on Wednesday, Zeaul said the plan will play an effective and efficient role to establish a strong e-government ecosystem in the country, reports UNB.
The plan will be very useful for different ministries, divisions and organizations to initiate new ICT related activities aligned with Vision-2021, Zeaul Alam said.
According to the report of UN e-Government Survey 2018, Bangladesh ranked 115th among 193 countries of the world.
Mentioning that Prime Minister’s ICT Affairs Adviser Sajeeb Ahmed Wazed has given a target to improve the country’s ranking in the UN survey by 50 positions by 2021, Zeaul Alam said in 2003, only 45 countries had one-stop-platform and it was 90 in 2016.
Hyun-Gue Joe, country director of Korea International Cooperation Agency attended the event as guest of honour and Md. Mamun-Al-Rashid, additional secretary (Planning and Development Wing) of the ICT Division addressed the occasion as special guest.
Partha Pratim Deb, executive director of BCC, presided over the program while Mohammad Manir Hossain, project director of ‘e-Government Master Plan for Digital Bangladesh’ delivered the welcome speech.
