The government has launched an initiative for extending e-service to people at the upazila level under Access to Information (A2I) programme of the Prime Minister's Office (PMO). The people at the upazila level would get up-to-date information on the activities of various departments and ministries through the e-service programme, said field level expert of the A2I project Mostafizur Rahman.

About 22 ministries/departments have their offices at the upazila level and under the programme steps would be taken to provide information of those ministries and departments to the people through one-stop service center, he said.

In this regard, a brainstorming session for the officials of the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs (MOWCA) was held at the PMO as part of preparations for the e-service programme.

The session, arranged with the support of the A2I project and the Cabinet Division, aimed at identifying the services and information now being provided to the upazila level women from the MOWCA and discussing about the way of delivering the services and information through one-stop e-service system.

Mostafizur Rahman said about 30 officials of the MOWCA attended today's session and after the daylong discussion in six groups they placed their recommendations for giving e-service to rural women on many issues, including various allowances, microcredit and training programmes.

Project Director of A2I Nazrul Islam Khan and Additional Secretary of the Cabinet Division Khandakar Anwarul Islam addressed, among others, on the occasion.
