In the present context of globalisation and development of information and communication technology, maintaining a website has become essential for every organisation. In our country, many people and organisations have developed their own websites to widen their areas of communication and carry all kinds of activities including personal contacts and businesses through the internet to make it timely and accurate. But unfortunately, the state organs remain behind due to not introducing e-governance properly.

Presently, it is noticed that almost each of the government ministries has its own website. Different offices under these ministries have also launched websites containing the information about who they are, what they have done, what they are doing or will do in the coming days. Indeed, it is a good initiative as it would let the government have the full operation of e-governance in the country soon. But surprisingly it is now found that many of these websites do not update their information or data, which the majority of visitors of their websites do need. There is still lacking in the design or scope and it should be improved to make it more friendly to its users.

Worldwide, dependence on electronic communication has increased due to the advantage of speedy communication and some reliability characteristics. Although there are demands of security of internet information, the Bangladesh has, however, not reached the level to be concerned about it right at this moment. Our present move should be to make all of us dependent on, and familiar with, the internet use. But we, as well, have to learn about its various facilities to exploit those to the maximum in the national interest and develop the awareness about its advancement. But first of all, we have to maintain the websites and update their information as per the requirement of the users, in which the government and its other offices seem to be failing. If we do not do this, we will repeatedly face lapses and lag behind in the full implementation of e-governance. For this, the government should train up some staff in every office to do the task.
