Communication Minister Barrister Nazmul Huda on Thursday said his ministry would launch Information Communication Technology (ICT) with e-governance for further development as well as proper maintenance of the country's communication network, reports BS.

"The most modern technology in our communication network will add a new dimension in the whole communication sector, which has already witnessed a massive progress after implementation of various projects over the last four and half years resulting in a new dynamism in the national economy," he said.

The minister said this while addressing as the chief guest the 21st annual conference of Roads and Highways Engineers Association (RHEA) at the Sarak Bhaban here, an official handout said.

With RHEA President Muhammad Adam Ali Gazi in the chair, the function was also addressed, among others, by Fazlul Haque Milon MP, Communication Secretary Muhammad Shafiqul Islam and general secretary of RHEA Muhammad Azizur Rahman.

The RHEA leaders in their speeches urged the government for floating a Road Fund for proper maintenance of 22,000 kms of roads under the Roads and Highways (R&H) division and regularizing 7,500 `worked charged' employees of R&H.

Barrister Nazmul Huda appreciated the professional skill and competence of the R&H engineers as he said they had properly implemented the development projects in this sector, funded by the World Bank and other development partners.

"The government in-principle has taken a decision to float the proposed Road Fund for ensuring proper maintenance of the country's road network under the R&H division," he told the engine
