Transforming Government since 2001
Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Karim Massimov entrusted the Kazakh Agency for Statistics with a number of tasks, Kazinform reports.

At a session of the collegium the head of the Kazakh Government voiced support to suggestion of the Agency on formation of an interdepartmental commission in order to heighten coordination of the actions and enhance cooperation between the public bodies of the republic.

“We are to form the e-Government, establish the information-oriented society, therefore, we are to consolidate the database,” K. Massimov said. He charged the Agency to continue improving the government statistics and to foresee “adaptation” of the statistics in the light of the forthcoming three-year budgeting.

The Agency for Statistics was ordered to prepare for the oncoming population census in 2009 as well. According to the Premier, the preliminary population census will be conducted this February in Turkistan.
